For our protection & to ensure these terms are understood and agreed to, you will have to sign these terms & conditions when dropping off your equipment.

If you require a business/account manager to handle your payments, we will charge a fee of $25 for the hassle on top of a $20 wire fee. LAGW will not provide legal paperworks for bills under $600

There are no refunds or credits available under any circumstance. If you are not satisfied with our work, please simply don’t utilize us again. We do not settle invoices or otherwise offer any type of discounts.

Communication:
LAGW operates via email exclusively for communications

Repair Processing:
It’s important to understand that LAGW does not operate like other shops in the area. Our focus is on standard repairs. We do not generally perform deep restorations or very complex repairs. With that in mind, it is totally possible that we will end a repair job if the issue you need fixed is too complicated or otherwise deemed to be a job too great in scope.

Example of standard repair: A synthesizer with a broken control pot. We will obtain a replacement pot and replace the broken pot.
Example of a repair job too great in scope
: A monitor controller who’s digital interface CPU has failed. Replacement parts are not readily available and the manufacture is unwilling to help.
Other reason a job may be ended: Parts not available or any other reason that may arise.

Warranty:
Our warranty is for 30 days after completion of unit, not from when you pick it up. Our warranty only covers the work we performed, no more, no less. Phrases like “it never did this before you did x” need not be said as they will not be taken seriously.

Warranty service can only be performed by the same technician that serviced your equipment to begin with and thusly could be delayed by the respective techs schedule. Warranty repairs are handled on a “front of the line” basis in that it will be the next job on the bench following completion of the current project on the bench.

Parts:
LAGW has a good stock of NOS, pulled, and new parts in house. However, many jobs will require parts to be obtained.
Parts & kits over $100 are required to be purchased directly by the customer and shipped to our location. We may also ask the customer to purchase parts if the parts seller requires odd payment methods or any other reason.

Failure to order the needed parts may delay your job indefinitely. If you do not successfully order parts requested within 2 business days, within reason, we may have to shelf your item. Once an item has been shelved for 10 business days, we may ask you to pick it up and pay for our time spent.

Storage Rules & Fees
In order to maintain a short turn around and reduce clutter, you must agree to our storage guidelines
Once your gear is complete or your service order is otherwise complete, your gear must be picked up within 3 business days.

After 3 business days, you will begin to incur a non negotiable $15 per day storage fee, per item. If you have multiple items in for repair and one is done first, come pick it up. Don’t wait for the others to be finished or you will incur the above fees on the ready-to-leave equipment.

All equipment left at LAGW for 30 days without payment or retrieval will be considered abandoned and become property of LAGW on the next business day after the 30 days. Abandoned equipment may be sold to cover the bill and storage fees or disposed of with no recourse available.

About:
LA Gear Works is privately owned by a known technician in the Los Angeles area following a decade+ long successful career in the high end instrument restoration business. The owner’s goal for LAGW is to give back to the LA community following the closure of many repair shops as there are few, if any, affordable options left that accept piecemeal repair work.
